whether it was built by the Christians or by the Arabs. Today only a few walls remain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was in the vicinity of this fortress that the mythical <strong>Battle of Clavijo<\/strong> of the Christian reconquest led by King Ramiro I of Asturias against the Muslims, on 23 May 844, and in which <strong>the Apostle James appeared<\/strong> on his white horse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As usual, the fortress was erected in a strategic location. <strong>on a big rock<\/strong> which is currently used to <strong>climbing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"monasterio-de-san-prudencio-de-monte-laturce\">Monastery of San Prudencio of Monte Laturce<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ruins of the<strong> Monastery of San Prudencio of Monte Laturce<\/strong> are located at 800 m above sea level and can be reached from Clavijo via a dirt track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is evidence that the monastery was already in existence in the <strong>10th century<\/strong> and the owners of the monastery, the lords of Cameros, had their pantheon there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the disentailment of Mendiz\u00e1bal in 1836, <strong>was abandoned<\/strong> and his possessions sent to the Co-cathedral of Santa Mar\u00eda de la Redonda in Logro\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"real-basilica-de-santiago\">Royal Basilica of Santiago<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On the slopes of Mount Laturce, at an altitude of 945 m above sea level, is the <strong>Santiago Chapel<\/strong>. It was built in the&nbsp;<strong>XVIIIth century<\/strong>&nbsp;of ashlar and brick, replacing an earlier hermitage built by King Ramiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"iglesia-parroquial-de-la-asuncion\">Parish Church of the Assumption<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Church of the Assumption<\/strong> was built in ashlar stone between the <strong>XVI and XVII,<\/strong> It was dedicated to Our Lady of the Annunciation until 4 September 1885.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the central body there is an image of the&nbsp;<strong>Virgin Mother<\/strong>on its right side the image of&nbsp;<strong>San Mames&nbsp;<\/strong>(once the patron saint of the village) and on the left side the image of<strong>&nbsp;San Roque<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On one of the side altars is the image of the Virgin Mary.&nbsp;<strong>Our Lady of Hope<\/strong>The 13th century, from the Monastery of San Prudencio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"templo-de-la-union\">Temple of the Union<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It was <strong>built in 1965<\/strong> under the direction of the Logro\u00f1o architect and priest, Gerardo Cuadra, winner of the 2004 Fine Arts Award of La Rioja. The Temple of La Uni\u00f3n has been nominated for the <strong>among the most important monuments of 20th century Spanish architecture.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a <strong>rural church<\/strong> consisting of a main space for the celebration of worship; a secondary space, linked to the previous one, for private Eucharistic devotion; a small area for penitential sacraments (baptism, confession); a small atrium; sacristy and a free-standing bell tower.<br><br>In the design and subsequent construction of the church, the author himself comments, three sections stand out that have been especially careful: the <strong>hierarchisation of spaces and volumes<\/strong>The assessment of the <strong>different elements by light<\/strong> and the integration of the <strong>new architecture in the rural environment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ermina-de-nuestra-senora-de-san-roman\">Ermina de Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de San Rom\u00e1n<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hermitage of <strong>Our Lady of San Roman<\/strong> is attached to the <strong>Municipal Cemetery.<\/strong> It has a small <strong>portico with seating<\/strong> on the side walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interior of the Hermitage measures 12 metres long by 5 metres wide, and its <strong>baroque altar<\/strong>It is in a very deteriorated state. On the outside, it is octagonal in shape and is joined by an arch to the buttress immediately before it. This land is incorporated into the Logro\u00f1o-Agoncillo airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2000, the following have been carried out <strong>archaeological campaigns<\/strong> in order to define the origin and chronological use of this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The studies so far indicate the possibility of a <strong>double Roman occupation, completed in the 14th century by a medieval
